Apartment Search Update

Well, our fostering will be coming to an end come mid-April/May. :(

Our apartment right now is so old and dusty (we've done everything! we have an air purifier and everything), that we've decided it's definitely not ideal to bring a newborn into it. We thought for a little while about moving within the apartment complex, but we decided to look around to see what we could find. We pay about 100-120 in utilities each month (because we don't have very good windows/insulation/anything when it comes to keeping heat in), so we were paying about 550 a month total.

So, for the past month or so I've been checking online on various websites to see what I could find that was opening up in April/May, but wasn't having very much luck. There were a bunch of listings for apartment complexes (which are WAY OVERPRICED in Provo), but not much for the smaller apartment complexes/basement apartments/etc. But, last weekend a few things started showing up, so I decided it was time to start looking multiple times a day for good deals. Michael and I have looked at/toured a ton of apartments. Super fun. We looked at a one bedroom that was 655 a month, but decided it wasn't worth the extra money for a one bedroom. We looked at a few more that were in that price range (which is pretty typical for Provo these days... even on the 'lower' side of typical), and then I FOUND A TWO BEDROOM APARTMENT FOR 600 + Electricity and Garbage!!! (AKA: SWEET DEAL)

So, of course, I made Michael call right away to set up a time to look at the apartment. We got to look at it Monday evening. It is a basement apartment (the landlord's daughter lives upstairs), that has been COMPLETELY gutted and remodeled and rebuilt to state standards (there are even fire escape windows!). So, not only was it a sweet deal just based on it being a two bedroom apartment, but it also is a sweet deal for quality! The kitchen is BEAUTIFUL! I can't wait to actually have a kitchen again! (ours right now... is about the size of a closet...literally)

So, now all we have to do is give them our deposit (to make sure we get the place because other people are looking at it and we're terrified they'll snatch it before us!)

Anyway, that's the story. YIKES!

Here is the KSL ad for it, but the pictures do NOT do it justice at all. (the bathroom is HUGE!)
Alrighty, that's it.. we're moving! YIKES! (April is totally sneaking up on me...I do NOT want to pack, but I suppose it's time to start)

Oh yeah, and it's a house that is three blocks away from Joe and Tina's place. So, it's in a pretty nice neighborhood :)
Oh, and we're in different wards... heh, don't you love Utah?
I'm excited to have a front yard and backyard that we can use!

  1. Your kitchen looks really nice and huge. And I started laughing out loud (literally) when I saw that it was 1,000 sq feet because our house isn't even that big and it's 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and on 3 floors! hahahaha I'm glad you found a great place for a great price! Yay! And that's nice it is so close to Joe & Tina!
